Madison and Austin’s spring maternity session at Hammonds Ferry in North Augusta felt like the perfect combination of timeless style, soft southern charm, and genuine connection as they prepare to welcome their first baby later this summer.
Why Hammonds Ferry is One of My Favorite Locations for Maternity Sessions
As a North Augusta maternity photographer, I’m always looking for locations that feel elevated while still allowing sessions to feel relaxed and natural. Hammonds Ferry has quickly become one of my favorite spots because of the beautiful white architecture, tree lined streets, and quiet southern feel throughout the neighborhood.
It photographs beautifully in the spring and early summer months, especially for motherhood sessions with soft neutral styling like Madison and Austin chose for their session.
What to Wear for a Timeless Maternity Session
One of the biggest questions I get from expecting mothers before their session is what to wear. Madison actually went back and forth between a few dresses before deciding on this beautiful Hill House dress, and it ended up photographing so perfectly for the overall feel of the session.
Soft movement, light colors, and classic silhouettes always photograph beautifully for maternity portraits because they keep the focus on connection and emotion rather than trends.
For fathers, simple pieces like neutral slacks and a white button up almost always work beautifully and help create a timeless look throughout the gallery.
Making Maternity Sessions Feel Relaxed and Natural
Another concern I hear often is feeling awkward in front of the camera or worrying about body changes during pregnancy. My goal during every maternity session is to create space for movement and natural interaction so sessions never feel stiff or overly posed.
Madison and Austin were both so relaxed throughout the evening, and I think that’s one of the reasons this gallery feels so genuine. Some of my favorite moments from the session happened in between poses while they were simply talking, laughing, and soaking in this season together.
Planning Your Motherhood and Newborn Photography Experience
One of the things I love most about maternity sessions is knowing they are only the beginning of the story. Madison and Austin also booked their newborn session later this summer, and I already know documenting those first days with their baby is going to be incredibly special.
Maternity, Fresh 48, and newborn photography all work together to preserve the full story of welcoming a baby into your family. These seasons move so quickly, and having those memories documented together becomes even more meaningful with time.
